The students of PYP 4 have been inquiring into the facets of Architecture as part of the Transdisciplinary Theme- “How We Express Ourselves”. Over their weeks of investigation into the elements and principles of architectural style, they have acquired the ability to generate unique ideas about human-made structures. As part of their Summative Assessment, students set out to design a sustainable structure using their own takeaways on architecture and human innovation. They blended their understanding of sustainable resources, and water and energy efficiency with that of aesthetics and design. The results were a variety of structures that made use of various ‘green’ resources.

The students built models of their designs using eco-friendly materials and the myriad of designs were presented to their peers. The project allowed them to push the boundaries of their creativity whilst developing a holistic and deep understanding of the two concepts.
