Over the last two weeks, students across MYP have been deeply engaged in the diverse Enrichment Cluster (EC) activities including dance, mastering an art form, music, online courses, content creation and innovation.
Here are the key highlights of their enriching future-building activities.
EC Dance
In EC dance, students had embarked on a journey into the realm of dance, and this week marked the first leg of their journey. Through the past few weeks, students continued their work in groups, but also learnt to work independently through individual research, exploring the principles of dance and understanding the raw core of their field. Honing their collaboration skills as well as their thinking and researching skills, students enjoyed the first leg of their voyage through the complex world of dance and choreography. This process will not only enhance their skills in dance but also in researching and communication and foster social skills as they learn to navigate group dynamics and respect each other's opinions. By embracing an open-minded mindset, students ensure that everyone's ideas are valued, contributing to a harmonious and productive collaboration, while learning to work independently and as a group.
EC Mastering and Online Course
As students had delved into the realm of online courses, they encountered a myriad of options to expand their knowledge and skills. Through patient exploration and effective communication, they navigated this digital landscape, seeking out courses that aligned with their interests and goals. The past few weeks saw them understanding and beginning their online courses - learning the basics of what they wanted to learn and taking the right steps to better understand their chosen online course’s field/concept. Working collaboratively, they shared their findings and insights, pooling their resources to identify courses that offered opportunities for mutual and personal growth. By emphasising collaboration, students not only enhanced their research and inquiry skills but also cultivated an open-minded approach to learning, embracing new perspectives and ideas along the way. Overall, these past few weeks began the journey of students’ chosen online course.
EC Content Creation
In the vast realm of content creation, students had come together in groups to brainstorm and develop their ideas. Through lively discussions and creative brainstorming sessions, they explored various avenues for product creation, each student bringing their unique perspective to the table. As they collaborated to refine their concepts and plans, they honed their skills in critical thinking and research, carefully considering the feasibility and impact of their ideas. The past few weeks saw them begin work on their chosen project, with some choosing to work as a large group while others choosing to work in smaller pairs or trios, or individually. Each student gave their best and took leaps in their own journey. With an open-minded and curious mindset, students delved into the creative process, embracing challenges, and seeking innovative forms of content creation to bring their visions to life.
EC Music
In EC Music, students had embarked on the exciting journey of music composition. With the goal of creating original pieces, they immersed themselves in the world of musical expression, exploring different genres and styles. The past weeks saw them emerge in solidarity about what they wanted to create, and how they would go to approach it and take the steps to bring it together. Through collaborative discussions and shared brainstorming sessions, they selected songs for reinterpretation, each student contributing their insights and preferences. As they worked together to refine their choices and develop their compositions, they cultivated skills in communication, self-management, and critical thinking. With a growth mindset guiding their efforts, students embraced challenges and pushed the boundaries of their creativity, striving to create music that resonated with their audience and reflected their unique talents and perspectives.
EC Innovation
In the realm of innovation, students were tasked with crafting persuasive pitches for their product ideas. The past weeks consisted of them creating the pitch for their product; convincing why their product was important, and why they believed it should go ahead. Through collaborative efforts and thorough research, they developed compelling arguments and strategies to promote their concepts. By incorporating diverse perspectives and listening to each other's ideas, they refined their pitches and enhanced their persuasion and research skills. With a growth mindset and open-minded approach, students embraced feedback and constructive criticism, continuously iterating on their pitches to make them more persuasive and impactful, while improving their product idea and designs. As they go to present their ideas with confidence and conviction, they demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively and advocate for their vision with passion and clarity, a much-needed skill in the modern world.
