October 18th, 2010, the Pathways family embarked on a remarkable journey, one that would shape countless lives and ignite the flames of potential.?Our school’s Raising Day is more than just a date; it marks the birth of us Pathwaysiansa diverse community of learners, dreamers, and changemakers destined to leave their mark on the world. This day holds profound significance for us, symbolizing not only the foundation of our school but also our unwavering commitment to the values we uphold. Although we celebrated a few days late due to the DP students being away on their annual camps, the cherished tradition of Raising Day remained as impactful as ever, serving as a powerful reminder of our lifelong vision: to learn, work, play, think, and live with a strong sense of purpose.

The day began with an assembly, commencing with a multifaith prayer led by our teachers, which set a tone of inclusivity and gratitude. Hearing the prayer offered in various languages, reflecting diverse beliefs in the divine, beautifully showcased the richness of our school community. It filled me with a deep sense of belonging and reinforced the idea that our differences are not barriers, but bridges that connect us.

Following the prayer, speeches by our esteemed School Director, Captain Rohit Sen Bajaj, and Senior School Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Nag, opened my eyes to the multifaceted legacy of our school. Their words emphasized the significance of Raising Day as an opportunity to give back, inspiring us to serve others with compassion. In a heartfelt moment, we applauded the dedicated faculty and students who have been with the school since its inception, acknowledging their invaluable contributions in shaping PSG into the vibrant learning environment it is known for today.

A key highlight of the assembly was the intertwining of our Raising Day celebration with the upcoming Diwali festivities. As every member of the PSG community lit a lamp to illuminate the atrium, I was moved by the shared symbolism of light casting away darkness. This light represented the triumph of good over evil, echoing across various cultures and traditions. It added layers of meaning to our gathering, reminding me that light transcends boundaries and unites us all. In that moment, I understood that the light we celebrate is not just found in the lamps we light but also resides within our hearts. Good and evil, light and darkness, coexist within each of us, and it is our choices that define what we choose to act upon and share with others.

However, what will stay with me for many years to come is Ms. Nag’s powerful story about how life often presents us with an ultimatum between calculated risks and leaps of faith. As she recounted the challenges faced just the night before 18/10/2010, I was struck by the uncertainty that surrounded the school’s beginningsthere was nothing in place to welcome the students on campus. No infrastructure, no furniture, no flooringjust a blank canvas. Yet, fuelled by immense passion, the founding team transformed that space overnight. This incredible feat was not just about hard work; it was about believing in a vision and taking bold steps to make it a reality, even when the odds seemed daunting. As I approach my final year before graduation, I found a deep connection to Ms. Nag's story. It resonated with me, reminding me that I, too, must embrace the uncertainty that comes with major decisions as I prepare for college. Her words inspired me to recognize the power of taking risks and to trust in my abilities, reinforcing the idea that every leap of faith can lead to remarkable transformations.

After the assembly, the DP students led the Pangat, a cherished tradition of communal dining where we gather on the floor to share a meal. This gathering transcends mere nourishment; it symbolizes our collective spirit of giving back, embracing humility and gratitude. As I served food and was served by my peers, I witnessed the profound impact we can create when we come together in love and service. This experience reinforced the idea that our strength lies in our unity and inspired me to uphold the Pathways legacy of giving back to our community even beyond my school years.

To conclude, as I reflect on this memorable day, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride in being a Pathwaysian. The experiences we shared during the assembly and the Pangat reaffirmed the values that unite us and guide our every endeavour as a school. To future generations of Pathwaysians, I urge you to cherish these traditions, embrace the values that underpin our community, and be a light in the lives of those around you. Most importantly, take that leap of faith: learn, work, play, think, and live with the courage to forge your own pathway in life.
