On World Mental Health Day, 10 October, 2024 the PYP community engaged in a series of thoughtfully designed activities aimed at fostering calmness, relaxation, and mindfulness. Learners explored various stations, each offering experiences to cultivate various aspect of well-being. Reflective prompts helped upper primary learners to bust the myths and have deeper understanding of related concepts. Across diverse grade levels, students engaged in meaningful activities, reinforcing the value of emotional resilience and collective support within the PYP framework.
A session on Mental Health Day was conducted by Mrs. Meenakshi Singal (PYP Principal) and She led a profound session on 'Permission to Exist' and encouraged teachers to give permission to themselves to prioritize their mental health! I enjoyed the collaboration which included - fun, laughter and exchanging of ideas! Reflections during the session were heartwarming as teachers shared about giving permission to not to be bothered with societal expectations or not to assess their self-worth through others' perspectives! This session significantly impacted the climate and culture of the school! ??
The activities helped students practice self-care and support one another, building a stronger sense of community. By exploring creativity and mindfulness, they developed better self-management and social skills. These experiences will remind them to prioritize their mental well-being and continue practicing these skills in the future.
Student council members conducted sessions for early years learners to mark the Mental Health Week. Various topics such as self-awareness of emotions and feeling, emotional regulation, conflict resolution etc. were covered using a variety of mediums. EY learners confidently projected their understanding from the sessions. ?
